Think Titanic

I take great joy in responding to my readers. Their questions and comments are sometimes challenging, but I welcome that challenge. After all, I’m no stranger to questions. As a natural skeptic, I spent years asking the tough questions myself. I am now more than satisfied with the answers received and the peace those answers have brought me. I desire to lead others to that other-worldly peace, which is the whole purpose behind this website.

A precious reader had heard the term “saving faith” and asked for clarification.

Well, dear reader, I will gladly give you the best explanation I have heard. Clearly this is not an original thought. As with many of my blogs, I am blessed to be able to communicate back to others those truths that have opened my own eyes over the years.

Think of that famous and fateful voyage aboard the Titanic. The ship is going down. You look to the ship’s captain for guidance. The captain points to the lifeboats on each side of the ship and says, “There’s your salvation. Do you have faith that a lifeboat can save you?”

“Absolutely!” you reply with confidence.

You then stand by and watch others get into the lifeboats, thinking your faith in that lifeboat is all you need.

Unfortunately, you perish.

You see, many believe God exists. Even Satan believes. But saving faith is when you choose to get into the lifeboat. It’s when you fully commit your entire being to that boat by climbing aboard. Jesus asks us to abide in Him, which means total trust.

There are references in Scripture where Jesus says, “Your faith has saved you” to various individuals. Jesus sees into every heart and is fully aware when one’s faith is simply intellectual acknowledgement and when it is genuine abiding or saving faith

Getting into the boat can be difficult, especially in a culture that deems total trust in the unseen as folly or surrender of any kind as weakness. But after years of relationship with the Lord, I can confidently tell you my decision to place Jesus at the helm of my ship was not folly, and my surrender to Him brought me power, peace, and joy – not weakness.

If pondering where to place your trust, think Titanic. It matters not who you are, where you’ve been or what you’ve done. Your lifeboat is waiting with open arms.

Joy in Jesus,

Jacquee
